Jim Vail, MMR describes his painting procedure as follows: "The painting was so simple I'm embarrassed! I painted the insides with Floquil "Engine Black" (spray can). All the outside walls and the shingles with Ace Hardware gray "Primer" (spray can). Looked so good I just left it! I painted the Grandt windows and your laser cut detail parts with some white enamel (spray can again - don't remember the brand). I did some scratching and scraping on the shingles, then washed them with my solution of Kiwi "Black" shoe dye and alcohol, working it down the roof. I did all the painting "in the flat" before assembly except that I pre-assembled the 4 intermediate tower shingle sections and the 2 top tower halves." |
